Lokichogio, Kenya.

For years, Loki has been the host to NGOs and a platform for conducting programmes to Sudan.

Now that the situation is more or less stabilised, most of the international aid offices have moved to Juba, and left Loki as a ghost town. Vestiges of an active past, the facilities which used to be restaurants, shops and compounds line up in empty rows, streets that were once very lively, are now completely deserted and in a state of abandon. Loki feels like a ghost town. There remain MSF Belgium and MSF Holland.

And it is in the latter compound that I am going to spend the night.
